Career Guidance for Students

Helping teens find their career direction

Is your teen feeling stuck about what to do after high school? Or perhaps you know a young person who's struggling with their career direction?

I work with students in Year 10 and above to help them find their career direction and support their career planning. I use an assessment tool called a Morrisby Profile to guide our discussion.

This involves the student completing a series of online aptitude tests and psychometric questionnaires prior to our consult. The results provide a comprehensive picture of their strengths, interests, personality type and work style, plus suggested career paths based on these insights.

We use these ideas as the basis for a discussion about what they’re interested in, what they’re keen to find out more about, and the skills and qualifications needed. I then show them how they can dive deeper into exploring different career paths using Morrisby's interactive platform, alongside real-world conversations and experiences.

The assessment can only be administered by a Morrisby-certified practitioner and is always combined with a consult to help you unpack the results and develop an action plan.

How does it work?

Upon booking an assessment, you’ll receive log-in details to access the Morrisby platform, where your teen can complete the assessment in their own time. It takes about 1 hour 40 mins to work through all of the activities, but they can break it up over a couple of days if needs be.

You'll receive a detailed report with a comprehensive picture of their strengths, interests, personality type and work style, plus suggested career paths based on these insights.

Please know there is no good or bad in these results! They are not a measure of your child’s intellect and there is no pass/fail. It’s simply a way of understanding where their relative strengths lie and what motivates them.

In our consult, we’ll review the results together and use the Morrisby platform to explore their career interests and the pathways into those careers.

As a parent, you may wish to join in that session. It can be helpful for you to have a shared understanding of your child’s strengths, interests and career/study options, to enable supportive conversations at home.

Please note, I have a valid Working With Children Check, enabling me to work with children in both volunteer and paid roles, and I have worked extensively in child-safe organisations.

What does it cost?

The cost for this service is $295 (inc GST), payable upon booking.

Client feedback

“Thanks Jacqui, that was super helpful!! And actually really gave [my son] the confidence and purpose to push himself with subject selections - advanced maths/engineering studies - that he wasn't going to before seeing you. Very very helpful.

Will be sending my eldest daughter to do the same after her trials - keen for her to have a range of pathways in her mind to take the pressure off for the HSC ahead.”
